In Memory of Robert Sinko, MTI Fellow

ST. LOUIS, MO. – It is with sincere sorrow that we share news of the passing of Robert Sinko, long-time MTI member with Eastman and more recently with Becht, and an MTI Fellow (2020). Robert began participating in MTI in 1995. He was passionate about our organization and always “put on his MTI hat” when serving as Board Chair and engaging as a Board member. During that time, he also championed and collaborated on numerous project teams. He frequently engaged in the TAC Forum discussions as both a member and Fellow with more than 600 activities documented from his post and reply contributions.

We will miss Robert’s knowledge, leadership and friendship. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Linda and their family.

On a personal note, I'll miss Robert's friendship and kind-hearted presence. To myself and many others, he provided the sort of mentorship that goes without any kind of formal arrangement. Just sage advice, when you needed it, coming for the right place. 

On a professional note, I'll miss Robert's contributions to MTI. His input was always experienced based and practical. I'm thankful for his numerous posts to the forum, which will live on giving us each a smile when stumbling across one of his answers.

Robert was such a caring and generous mentor.  He shared his knowledge with everyone and was always willing to lend an ear.  His energy helped keep things moving along collegially at MTI meetings.  He will be greatly missed.

I will miss Robert for his personality and his unique style of delivering well researched opinions in a low key and practical way. “As they do in the dog-patch…” followed by a comment on a cutting edge technical topic. It’s a shock to lose him so soon, but grateful for his legacy.

I have had the privilege of knowing Robert as a friend for over two decades.  Robert will continue to be a role model  to me both professionally through the rest of my career as well as personally as a genuine, caring person.  Will cherish the memories of the many interactions over the years, and dinners with Robert and his wife, Linda during MTI meeting weeks.

I remember meeting Robert at a conference years ago as a young engineer. I was fortunate and better off for having known him.

Robert leaves a great MTI legacy. He was not only a great technical resource to MTI but a "real" people person. When I left MTI for several years and worked in Kazakhstan, Robert would periodically message me to check-up on me and see how I was doing. Robert will be greatly missed.
