  • 1.  Belzona 1111 nozzle sleeves

    Posted 05-28-2020 01:41 AM

Does anyone have experience with Belzona 1111 nozzle sleeves in place of internal liquid coating repairs on water treatment tank nozzles, specifically effluent water with MEG/Oil contamination?

    If Yes;

    * Are these a suitable alternative to liquid coating repairs?

    * Did the use of these sleeves save time and resources when compared to the application of liquid coatings?

    * What was the performance of these sleeves, did they exhibit any premature failures?

    * Any other technical advice with regards to the use of these sleeves.

Please provide your feedback on the above.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Gyananjan Mahanty

    Mahanty,

    Good day.

We've been using Belzona 1111 for our repairs on site. I believe the sleeve approach is unconventional and would require other Belzona products like their "release agent" to form the sleeve and then inserting it inside the nozzle.

    To answer your queries:
    1. Belzona 1111 is of the "paste" form - they are viscous and application requires skill. When applied correctly, they do have excellent corrosion resistant properties. kindly check their product data sheets or view their website. For coating applications, they have a wide variety of products to suit your needs.
    2. No experience on this one yet but with access restrictions, this would have advantage over liquid coating application.
3 and 4 - No comment; I would recommend that you contact Belzona Asia Pacific based in Thailand - they are more than willing to assist in your concerns. You can reach them at belzona@belzona.co.th

    Thanks and best regards,

    Ron

    Hi Mahanty,

I would recommend FRP or Dual-lam prefabricated Nozzle-sleeves that you can insert into your damaged nozzles. To get a good contact to the existing nozzle you need to clean grit blast and then apply Belzona or do an injection with EPOXIGARD HC from Koch Knight which will giver a tighter and controllable connection between parts.

    Kind regards,

    Matthias

Hi Gyananjan, we published a paper in Materials Performance (August Issue, 2018) on the use of Belzona to prevent hydrogen cracking on a gas dehydration unit. I think this unit was in the Middle East.
