Additive Manufacture of ASME Vessel from Super Duplex Stainless Steel – Phase 2 (442)

 View Only

Phase 1 (MTI project #386) qualified an additive material manufacturing procedure using the Gas Metal Arc Directed Energy Deposition method (GMA-DED) and ER-2594 wire filler metal (equivalent to super duplex stainless steel UNS S32750) per the requirements of sections 1-4 and 6 in ASME Code Case and ASME Section IX, Part QW, Article VI suitable for equipment fabrication.  The Phase 2 project objective is to use the results from Phase 1 to fabricate a small ASME vessel with a combination of wrought metal and AM metal vessel shell sections, heads, and flanges.  The vessel would be tested to learn the suitability of vessel fabrication using GMA-DED with type of super duplex alloy for vessel fabrication.
