CUI Control Fiber Optic Sensing as a Revolutionary Tool to Prevent Corrosion Under Insulation
February 9, 2023 | 9-10 AM EST

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is a huge problem on chemical plants and refineries. New non-invasive technology that can continuously monitor the potential for corrosion under insulation on every meter of your critical infrastructure has been trialed in the field. This technology, based on fiber optic sensing, will be discussed for potentially monitoring and preventing corrosion under insulation. Some use cases on pipelines and tanks will also be discussed. Finally, an outlook on additional new innovations based on fiber optic sensing will be provided.

Join the Materials Technology Institute (MTI) to explore this topic on Tuesday, February 9 at 9:00 AM EST with guest speaker Thomas Van Hoestenberghe – CEO, Fluves. Thomas is a physical engineer with 20 years expertise in environmental and industrial monitoring. Before starting his own company, he applied and optimized monitoring systems for challenging environments such as the dredging and offshore industry. In 2014, he founded Fluves, an engineering company specialized in fiber optic sensing systems for water and energy management. Today, he is managing a team of 20 engineers and developers. Fluves holds multiple patents on fiber optic sensing systems.
