Project Description:

Evaluation of Fiber Optic High Temperature Multiplexing Sensing Technologies for Continuous Metal Temperature Monitoring in CPI and Refinery Applications. <br>Evaluate sapphire fiber optical technology with Fabry-Perot interferometer, Fiber Bragg Grating, Rayleigh Scattering-Based Sensors using annealed silica fiber, and other viable fiber optic technologies to make high temperature measurements suitable for CPI process operations. Evaluate methods of instrument installation on existing tubes/equipment (ability to fit fiber optics to existing tubes in furnaces), viability of casting instruments into tubes, theoretical explanation and practical substantiation of the available techniques, technical maturity and implementation durability, and economic feasibility.
