The book, “MTI MANUAL NO. 8 FRACTURE CONTROL FOR THE CHEMICAL PROCESS INDUSTRIES” by D. Broek was published in 1983. It is a very instructive book aimed at providing a solid understanding and appreciation of the basics of fracture mechanics and its use to a technical audience not expert in this technology. Many technical developments in the use of fracture mechanics applied to process equipment have occurred in the 40 years since the 1983 publication. This book is of high quality and explains the basics very well. It is believed that there is merit to updating this document in the teaching style it is written to benefit process industry professionals.
