Additive Manufacturing of Rotating Equipment (426)

 View Only

Rotating equipment components often have long lead time due to complexities of the design.  Many components are manufactured through a combination of casting and/or complex machining.  Economic pressures have resulted in the consolidation of many OEM manufacturers, with globalized supply chain leading to additional consolidation of manufacturing capabilities.  Advancements in 3D Digital Reproduction and Additive Manufacturing offer potential alternatives to address these issues by providing alternative methods for manufacturing components with complex geometries.  The objective of this project is to develop guidance on how and when to utilize AM methods to build rotating equipment components.
